I give this activity a B+. The materials are easy to come by-- a glue gun with glue, piece of card board or heavy stock paper, and paint/brush. I'm not sure if water color would work well. We used washable craft paint. I think you could draw your design (NOT for toddlers to help with. The hot glue gun my only be used by an adult), let the glue set for 30 min, and be ready to paint over it. I let my glue dry over a few nights and came back to this activity. The raised image does look sort of cool.
