A Creative Way to Get Kids to Share...
As students enter the classroom have them take between 1-3 pieces of toilet tissue. Then ask then to write about the prompt. if they chose one piece, they write one response. (They might be able to write directly on the toilet paper, or you might have them write in their notebooks.) If they took two or three pieces, they write two or three responses. For example, as a review of irony, "Name and define different types of irony. You may write more than one if you selected only one piece of toilet paper but have more to types that you want to write about."
Next, students can share with partners, the whole class, or go in a circle and share in small groups.
I would advise using this activity as a review of key concepts already taught.
